4 Things to Take on Your Yachting Adventure

It’s time to go yachting. Are you packed? Did you make sure to bring your passport, phone chargers, sunscreen, and other necessities (yes, sunscreen is definitely a necessity)? Good, let’s go on your yachting adventure!

Alright, it’s not actually that easy to pick up for a weekend of yachting in the Bahamas. There’s slightly more planning involved. We weren’t joking about making sure you packed the essentials, though. There are certain things you just can’t go sailing without.

We’ve put together a list of our top four indispensable yachting items. Check it out below. When you’re done, head over to our exclusive destination charter page to get some vacation ideas!

Proper Yachting Gear for Yachting Adventure

Proper yachting gear takes a lot of different forms. There are the basics, like light, breathable clothing that dries quickly, sunglasses and sunscreen, a backpack, any watersports gear you may have, and more. These are the items you don’t want to miss.

Then there are the items you’re going to want to bring for specific types of sailing trips. If you’re going somewhere colder, make sure to bring a wetsuit and insulated clothing for the deck. If you’re going somewhere warmer (like our Venice of America tour, perhaps!), then you’ll want to bring lots of water and an insulated cooler.

Whatever form proper sailing and yachting gear takes, make sure to bring it. You’ll be thanking us later.

Waterproof Electronics

How are you going to document your one-of-a-kind yachting adventure without a camera and smartphone? Waterproof electronics are vital for everything from posting tropical selfies on Instagram to making extreme GoPro videos of your vacation.

The waterproof part is pretty important, though. You’ll want to make sure your phone, tablet, eReader, and more are in waterproof cases. You’ll want your GoPro and speakers to be water-resistant at least and waterproof at best.

Bonus points for downloading any videos, podcasts, or other streaming entertainment before you hit the water. Internet can be spotty on the ocean and you don’t want to burn through data while on vacation.

Personal Essentials

Personal essentials are similar to proper yachting gear: they’re going to vary based on where you’re going. They’re also going to vary between people. You may have a medication you need to take daily, while someone else may not have to worry about packing that.

Some basic personal essentials that won’t vary too much are things like your passport, money, and your debit or credit card. Don’t go on any vacation without these, especially if you’re going somewhere out of the country.

First Aid Supplies for Your Yachting Adventure

This one isn’t too exciting, but you’re going to want to pack first aid supplies for your yachting adventure. You don’t have to bring an entire first air kit, any tour service worth their salt will have one, but things like bandages, hydrogen peroxide, and Neosporin are good to have on hand.

This is especially true if you’re going on a fishing trip. There are plenty of chances to cut yourself on hooks, bait, fins, and more. Taking the extra time to throw a bandage in your bag will be well worth it if you end up getting nicked.
