Updated November 6, 2026. Miami is one of the busiest yachting cities in the United States. Biscayne Bay, the deep-water marinas around Watson Island and Miami Beach, and the Miami International Boat Show each February draw some of the world's best-known yachts, and plenty of people who want to see them. Here are famous superyachts people search for, what makes them notable, where to spot large yachts in Miami, and how to enjoy the same waters yourself.

Famous yachts and Miami's superyacht scene

Miami's waterfront regularly welcomes large yachts, from visiting superyachts to the newest models on display at the boat show, which makes yacht-spotting part of the city's appeal.

Three famous superyachts

These three are among the superyachts people search for most. Their size, builders and design have made them famous well beyond the yachting world.

  1. Rising Sun, 138 m (453 ft): built by Lürssen and delivered in 2004, Rising Sun was originally commissioned by Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison and is now associated with entertainment executive David Geffen.
  2. Eclipse, 162.5 m (533 ft): built by Blohm+Voss in Germany and delivered in 2010, Eclipse was one of the largest private motor yachts in the world when it launched. It has been widely reported as belonging to Roman Abramovich.
  3. A, 119 m (390 ft): designed by Philippe Starck and built by Blohm+Voss in 2008, the motor yacht A is known for its distinctive, unconventional profile. It has been reported as owned by Andrey Melnichenko.

Specifications are as publicly reported. Large-yacht ownership changes often and is rarely confirmed by owners, so we name owners only where they have been publicly reported.

Where to see superyachts in Miami

Island Gardens Deep Harbour Marina on Watson Island, between downtown Miami and Miami Beach, opened as a dedicated superyacht marina. Each February, the Miami International Boat Show brings new yachts and superyachts to Miami's waterfront. And Government Cut, the channel between PortMiami and South Beach, is where large yachts pass on their way to and from the Atlantic.
